You guys may have heard the buzz by now, so I wanted to give you the scoop, we are making some massive improvements at the resort. There are 5 major projects going on: the gondola is being realigned, a new lift with heated seats and an orange weather protecting bubble, 300 more acres of terrain on Iron Mountain, a new snowmaking reservoir, and a ski beach.
Yes, this all sounds very plush and exciting but what does it mean to you?
1. Gondola Re-Alignment equals less walking from the Cabriolet to the new plush seats of the re-painted gondola cars.

2. High Speed Quad with heated seats and an orange weather protecting bubble. We have taken the Golden Eagle lift down and are replacing it with this, however the lift line, is very different. The bottom terminal of this new quad goes where the old gondola base was, there will be a mid-way station at the top of Lookout Peak, and the lift will continue to an unloading spot where the DJ Hut was. Heated seats and orange bubble makes it the first of its kind in the U.S. PLUS, on powder days, your tush is warm, and you aren’t getting wet and cold (the bubble comes down when no one is in the chair, keeping the seat dry). This is also a 9,000 foot long lift, that will increase our out of base capacity by 47%, so you will spend waaay less time waiting in a gondola line on heavy snow days.

3. 300 more acres on Iron Mountain takes us to 4,000 acres of skiing and riding terrain. HELLO, earth to you, that makes us 4th largest in the U.S. meaning your secret stashes are even more hidden because people will spread out faster. Access via the Timberline lift will take you to the south side of the resort in minutes.

4. The new snowmaking reservoir will hold 20 million gallons of water, yes that means the jumps for the park will be up sooner and you will be over hucking yourself earlier in the season.

5. The new ski beach will give you the opportunity to pick up chicks (or dudes) while lounging next to an outdoor firepit or enjoying one of our concerts. This will be absolutely THE apres location. No Joke.

That being said, what do guys think? B-T-Dubs, more announcements are coming in the next couple of weeks, and that, my friends is the jam. Press release if you’d like more details: HERE

are there gonna be kickers comparable to those that used to be lower respects??
Yes! There is actually an entire section where the large kickers are going to be, there’s a run called easy way that will offer a way around the big kicker section keeping the beginners out but still allowing them to hit jumps.
I think The Canyons has done a great job with there park set-ups over the last five years. I’ve never rode at a resort where they take the time to maintain their park during the day to keep the locals happy. They never have dips at the end of their boxes and rails and other jibs, unlike the parks at brighton. The tow rope idea is genious! It might be a good idea to take the extra step next year into adding a section that is close to the bubble lift area that has lights and a park set up.
I like the way you think, and now having both parks together will actually make maintaining easier bc all of the park crew is accounted for in one run. The run is wide enough to have at least a double line wide, in some spots it’ll actually be three or four wide especially if you take into account all the natural features.
I agree with jeff guest on moving the park so experts dont have to ride with all the beginners
If you put a smaller tow-rope based park towards the bottom of the resort (accessible by foot, not the gondola) and had it running during the night times you would have the most legit place on the planet!
i think a tow rope would be awesome and it would get more people to go
Wow this upcoming season is gonna be awesome. Heated seats, now that is a new concept! I can’t wait for the snow to start fallin so we can ride the park!
As one of the major improvements, I highly recommend that you either move the Painted Horse terrain park off to it’s own part of the mountain with it’s own lift, or install a tow-rope in the Painted Horse terrain park. I think it is absolutely retarded how you have the terrain park on the same hill area as the beginners so the expert riders and the beginners get funneled into the same super congested area to get back onto the Saddleback lift that is always stopping because people keep falling on the lift. I really dont like forking out the money for these over priced season passes to ride a lift that only moves half of the time. I’m always having to dodge and pass the beginners as I try to keep up my speed to get past the flat area on “Main Line”, and then there is always someone at the slow sign that is telling everyone to slow down when they are going slow. And if you want to get down to the Tombstone Express, from the terrain park, you have to go fast through the congested area or ou will not have enough speed on “Chicane” to get to Tombstone. It would really be better for every one if you just move he terrain park to it’s own side of the mountain with it’s own lift. You keep the expert riders and the beginners seperated. I am paying a lot money every year for my season pass to The Canyons and would appreciate a better stress free experience when I come to ride. PLEASE MOVE THE PAINTED HORSE TERRAIN PARK!!!
I very strongly agree with jeff guest. i know alot of people that feel the same and wont ride in painted horse because of it. i would also like to see one of those euro gap up on and gap down off things( i dont know the correct term for it). that would be really cool. with that new water res you could build a good one
keep up the good work guys, it just gets better and better!!!!
Never been to park city to shred but it sounds like an awesome idea. I have that same problem at other places and there’s nothing I can do about it. Way to go Mr. tow rope!
WORD!
